The BJP swept the Haryana civic polls, winning all major municipal corporations, including Ambala, Gurugram, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, Faridabad, Yamunanagar, Panipat, and Sonipat.

Haryana Polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept the Haryana civic polls on Wednesday, securing victories in all major municipal corporations, including Ambala, Gurugram, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, Faridabad, Yamunanagar, Panipat, and Sonipat.

Congress suffered a major setback, failing to win even a single seat. The BJP’s dominance extended to Rohtak, the stronghold of Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda.

This was the first time the Congress contested the state civic polls on its symbol, but it failed to make an impact.

BJP’s Big Wins In Major Cities

In Gurugram, BJP’s Raj Rani secured 2,70,781 votes, defeating Congress candidate Seema Pahuja by a margin of 1,79,485 votes.

Faridabad saw a strong performance from BJP’s Parveen Joshi, who won with 416,927 votes.

Hisar witnessed BJP’s Parveen Popli winning by 64,456 votes, while Rohtak’s seat went to Ram Avtar Valmiki with a margin of 45,198 votes.

Karnal’s Renu Bala secured 83,630 votes, defeating Congress’s Manoj Wadhwa, who received 25,359 votes.

Yamunanagar also saw a BJP win, with Suman securing the mayor’s seat.

Congress Fails To Open Its Account

Ambala’s mayor by-election went to BJP’s Shailja Sachdeva. In Sonipat, Rajiv Jain secured victory with 57,858 votes.

Panipat’s mayoral seat also went to BJP, with Konal Saini winning 1,62,075 votes.

The only setback for the BJP came in Manesar, where independent candidate Inderjit Yadav defeated BJP’s Sundar Lal by 2,235 votes.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed his gratitude, saying, “The people of Haryana have put their stamp of approval on the triple-engine government. This victory will help fulfill PM Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.”

Bhupinder Hooda downplayed the defeat, stating, “The Congress may have gained in some areas, but these results won’t have much impact.”

BJP’s sweep, especially in urban areas like Gurugram and Faridabad, reinforces its political dominance in Haryana.
