In a fiery statement, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal over yet another shocking incident of violence, allegedly involving a close associate of a TMC MLA.

Poonawalla took to social media to express his outrage, questioning the silence of opposition leaders on the matter.

Sharing a disturbing video on social media, Poonawalla described it as another “horrific Talibani video from Bengal,” likening it to previous incidents in the state.

The video purportedly shows a group of men brutally assaulting a woman, allegedly under the patronage of a TMC leader.

“Incidents like these continue to occur in Bengal. TMC now seems to stand for ‘Talibani Mujhe Chahiye’, with its leaders defending such acts,” Poonawalla asserted, referencing past incidents that have drawn judicial scrutiny.

Accusing the Mamata government of shielding wrongdoers, Poonawalla remarked, “Today, Mamata’s slogan has changed from ‘Ma Mati Manush’ to Save the Rapists, Save the Corrupt, Save the Bombers.”

Meawhile, highlighting what he perceives as hypocrisy, Poonawalla criticized opposition leaders for their silence on the issue.

“Leaders who claim to champion women’s rights and those who travel across states should speak up. Will Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra, Priyanka Chaturvedi, or leaders from AAP address this issue? Their silence on such grave incidents is deafening,” he stated.

Poonawalla further criticized TMC’s defense of the video, alleging suppression tactics to evade accountability.

“Their defense that the video is old does not justify the gravity of the crime. It only underscores TMC’s habitual suppression of evidence through intimidation,” he added.

The BJP spokesperson’s comments however have sparked a fresh debate on law and order issues in Bengal, as the controversy surrounding the alleged flogging incident continues to unfold.
