In light of the severe weather predictions across the coastal Konkan region, the University of Mumbai has taken the decision to postpone all scheduled exams for Tuesday, as confirmed by an official.
The decision comes amidst forecasts of heavy rainfall likely to affect Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts.
Authorities will announce new dates for the postponed examinations shortly, ensuring minimal disruption to the academic calendar.
Additionally, the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) exams, originally scheduled for the morning of 8 July and postponed, will now take place on Saturday, 13 July, at their initially designated venues and timings.
The inclement weather has prompted authorities to order the closure of all schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg for the second consecutive day on Tuesday.
The heavy rains, which began battering Mumbai and the surrounding areas early Monday, have already claimed one life and severely disrupted normal life.
Meteorological forecasts indicate continued heavy to very heavy rainfall throughout the day in these regions, with similar warnings issued for other parts of the state.
In response, relevant agencies have heightened their alert status, with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other senior officials closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety and mitigate risks posed by adverse weather conditions.
