The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti for halting her Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election campaign following the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. BJP National Spokesperson R.P. Singh accused the PDP of aligning more with “terrorists” than with the nation.
Mufti announced her decision on social media, citing her intention to protest against Nasrallah’s killing in an Israeli attack in Beirut and expressing solidarity with the Lebanese and Palestinian people.
Responding to her announcement, Singh remarked, “In Kathua, one of our soldiers was martyred, but Mehbooba Mufti shows no concern for that. The PDP, along with the National Conference (NC) and Congress, appears solely focused on vote-bank politics.”

He drew comparisons to past incidents, recalling Sonia Gandhi’s response to the Batla House encounter and Mufti’s earlier expressions of sympathy for Burhan Wani. “Their focus is always on securing votes rather than national interests,” he asserted.
Singh further questioned the legitimacy of the PDP’s election boycott, stating, “There wasn’t much of a campaign to begin with. They are using an incident involving a terrorist abroad as an excuse to avoid campaigning.”
He continued to criticize the opposition, claiming, “Congress, PDP, and NC seem to sympathize more with terrorists than with the nation.”
Singh also addressed recent protest marches in the region, accusing opposition members of attempting to disrupt peace. “Some miscreants, including those from the PDP, NC, and Congress, are trying to stir trouble, but this will not succeed,” he declared.
Emphasizing the importance of law and order in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh urged the region’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to take decisive action.
In contrast to Mufti’s stance, Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for engaging directly with citizens. He highlighted the “Mann Ki Baat” program, noting that it allows citizens to not only listen to the Prime Minister but also provide suggestions. “This kind of interaction has not been replicated in any other country,” he concluded.
