In a significant move impacting residents, mobile Internet services were suspended across Assam on Sunday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. This decision was made to prevent any malpractices during the direct recruitment examination, which began at 9 A.M. in over 800 centers statewide.
More than 734,000 candidates are expected to participate in the written exams taking place in 27 districts. The exams will be conducted in two shifts: the first for Bachelor’s Degree level Class-III posts from 9 A.M. to 12 noon, and the second for HSLC (Driver) posts from 1:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.

While mobile Internet services will be halted, voice calls and broadband connectivity through fixed telephone lines will remain operational during this period.
An official statement issued ahead of the exams highlighted concerns over past incidents of cheating and other malpractices at certain examination centers. It emphasized the need for a free, fair, and transparent examination process to ensure public safety and prevent any potential law and order issues.
The Assam administration expressed concerns that anti-social elements might exploit the situation to spread rumors via social media, potentially disrupting the examination process.
