On Saturday, Samrat Choudhary, president of Bhartiya Janata Party’s Bihar unit compared Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with slain Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden, claiming that one cannot become Prime Minister of a country simply by growing a beard.

“Congress leader Rahul Gandhi grows beard like Osama bin Laden and thinks that he will become like Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, the BJP leader stated at a public rally in Bihar’s Araria district.

Choudhary’s statement came months after former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi grew a beard during his Bharata Jodo Yatra, which he later trimmed once the foot march was completed.

The BJP leader also slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

“Nitish Kumar is touring the country, telling everyone that he is the Prime Minister of the country. Is Nitish Kumar the Prime Minister?” Choudhary jibed, eliciting thunderous applause from the audience.

“Has he lost his mental balance or have I, Please tell me”, Choudhary inquired of the audience.

The BJP leader questioned the opposition’s capacity to choose a prime ministerial candidate, comparing Nitish Kumar’s mental state to Aamir Khan’s role in the film ‘Ghajini’.

Nitish Kumar, the president of the JD(U), has called a meeting of opposition parties in Patna later this month to plan a strategy for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Mr. Kumar left the BJP last year to join the ‘Mahagathbandhan’, which includes the Congress, the RJD, and the Left parties.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made similar remarks in November 2022.

The Assam chief minister stated, “I didn’t say anything about his (Rahul Gandhi) look. I just said that your face has begun to resemble Saddam Hussein’s, but if you shave your beard you will resemble Nehru”.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Chaudhary stated that if the BJP forms the government in Bihar, anyone involved in cow slaughter will face consequences.
