Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar on Thursday to address two major public rallies in Motipur under the Baruraj Assembly constituency of Muzaffarpur and later in Chhapra.
The events form part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) ongoing campaign for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
PM Modi is expected to highlight the NDA government’s developmental achievements in Bihar and renew his commitment to the revival of the historic Motipur Sugar Mill.
Once a major contributor to the local economy, the mill’s closure had long symbolised industrial decline in the region.
PM Modi had earlier pledged to restart the unit, remarking that ‘tea made from Motipur sugar would be a sweet symbol of Bihar’s growth’.
Announcing his visit on social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, “My family members in Bihar are personally contesting elections to ensure a landslide victory for the BJP-NDA. In this atmosphere of enthusiasm, I will have the privilege of interacting with the people tomorrow morning at around 11 a.m. in Muzaffarpur and later at 12:45 p.m. in Chhapra.”
He expressed confidence that the people of Bihar would once again deliver a resounding mandate for the NDA.
PM Modi had earlier launched the NDA’s campaign on 24 October with rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai.
He began the election drive from Karpoorigram, paying homage to former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, an icon of social justice in Bihar.
Last year, the government posthumously awarded Thakur the Bharat Ratna, and the NDA has since launched several projects to honour his legacy, including redeveloping Karpoorigram railway station at a cost of ₹3.3 crore.
The political landscape in Bihar is rapidly heating up. On Wednesday, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi addressed a joint Mahagathbandhan rally in Muzaffarpur, where he accused the BJP of ‘stealing elections’ and claimed that PM Modi ‘would do anything for votes’.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been leading an aggressive campaign in Begusarai, Samastipur, and Darbhanga to mobilise NDA supporters.
The Election Commission has announced that the Bihar Assembly elections will be taking place in two phases — on 6 and 11 November — with counting scheduled for 14 November.
Polling will take place in 121 constituencies in the first phase and 122 constituencies in the second phase across the 243-member Assembly.
The announcement has brought the Model Code of Conduct into immediate effect across the state.
As the campaign gathers pace, PM Modi’s rallies in Muzaffarpur and Chhapra are set to define the NDA’s final electoral push, emphasising development, governance, and a renewed vision for Bihar’s future.
