Patna is set to witness a historic event on November 20 as Nitish Kumar is sworn in as Chief Minister for the 10th time at the iconic Gandhi Maidan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend as the chief guest, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda and several senior leaders, reflecting the ceremony’s national significance.
Officials anticipate an unprecedented crowd, with over 3 lakh people expected to attend. Officials have made special arrangements for women, whose decisive participation significantly contributed to the NDA’s landslide victory in Bihar.
The swearing-in ceremony will also host several state and Union leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Assam CM Hemanta Vishwa Sharma, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, Tripura CM Manik Saha, and other prominent figures.
Organisers have planned the event on the scale of a major festival and have completed all preparations at Gandhi Maidan.
To ensure safety and smooth proceedings, the Patna district administration has announced traffic restrictions from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM on November 20.
Authorities will enforce no-vehicle zones from Bhattacharya Chowk to North Gandhi Maidan, covering Dakbangla Chowk, Rajendra Path, JP Golambar, Children’s Park, Thakurwadi crossing, and Bakerganj crossing. Additional restrictions apply near the IMA Hall, Hotel Panna, Twin Tower, Maurya Hotel, and Ashok Rajpath.
The general public will be able to enter Gandhi Maidan through Gates 07, 08, 09, and 10, while VIP pass holders will use Gate 04 via Budh Marg, with dedicated parking spaces at Magadh Mahila College, AN Sinha Institute, SBI premises, and Gyan Bhawan.
Thursday’s ceremony marks a landmark moment as Nitish Kumar embarks on his 10th term as Chief Minister, highlighting both his enduring political influence and the NDA’s strong mandate in Bihar.
The organisers expect the event to set a celebratory tone for the state, combining tradition, governance, and public participation in a landmark civic gathering.
