Senior BJP leader and East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari reached Shalimar Bagh on Wednesday to address a series of local meetings as part of the party’s campaign for the MCD by-election.
He urged residents to back the BJP candidate contesting the vacant seat. The vacancy arose after MLA Rekha Gupta assumed the post of Chief Minister.
Manoj Tiwari said public response in the area reflected widespread support for the party. He added that the energetic turnout at the 5 PM gathering demonstrated the community’s confidence in the BJP’s development agenda.
The BJP’s efforts extended to Ward 56 in Shalimar Bagh–B, where Manoj Tiwari also campaigned for the party’s municipal candidate, Anita Jain.
Residents of the AO Block and the nearby jhuggi cluster attended the corner meeting in large numbers. They expressed strong enthusiasm for the ongoing campaign.
Tiwari told the crowd that Shalimar Bagh–B has consistently backed progress-oriented leadership. He added that the strong local support underscores trust in the BJP’s governance model. He emphasised that strong voter turnout would ensure continuity of development work in the region.
Alongside Manoj Tiwari, Union Minister of State and East Delhi MP Harsh Malhotra has intensified his outreach. He is focusing on areas that are heading to the polls.
He has been actively campaigning in the Vinod Nagar ward of the Patparganj Assembly segment, which falls under his parliamentary constituency.
BJP leaders noted that the party’s senior representatives were working closely with grassroots workers to consolidate support. They added that the leaders were also communicating their vision for civic improvements across Delhi.
The by-election has gained significance for the BJP, particularly after the elevation of Rekha Gupta created a vacancy in a politically active zone. With multiple senior leaders entering the campaign, the party aims to secure a decisive victory and reinforce its position in the MCD.
