A leading doctors’ association in West Bengal has indefinitely barred Dr. Sandip Ghosh from participating in any academic activities. Dr. Ghosh, the former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, is a member of this association.
This decision comes after Dr. Ghosh’s involvement in the case of the brutal rape and murder at the same hospital.
The West Bengal Orthopaedic Association (WBOA) communicated the decision through a letter. This letter, signed by association president Dr. A.K. Bera and secretary Dr. Rajeev Raman, states: “As the principal, you are expected to be the local guardian for all students and post-graduate trainees (PGTs). Since the CBI is now handling the case, and you have been questioned by them about this heinous crime, we must exclude you from all WBOA activities until you are cleared and the Court reaches a verdict.”

Furthermore, the decision was made during an extraordinary general body meeting on August 16. The meeting specifically addressed the rape and murder case.
Additionally, the WBOA has requested an explanation from Dr. Sandip Ghosh regarding the incident. The letter demands a response within 30 days. It reads, “We hope you will come clean and reveal the truth.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Ghosh has been subjected to intense questioning. After two days of rigorous interrogation on Friday and Saturday, each lasting over 13 hours, he was summoned by the CBI again on Sunday morning. Sources indicate that CBI officials are probing Dr. Ghosh’s actions as the principal, especially after the victim’s body was discovered in the hospital’s seminar hall on August 9.
