Belagavi CWC Meet: Congress To Announce 2025 Vision On 26 Dec

On Tuesday, the Congress party announced its plans to unveil a comprehensive blueprint for the coming year during an extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at Belagavi, Karnataka, on 26 December.

The meeting will focus on addressing ‘challenges facing the nation under BJP rule, including economic inequality and erosion of democracy’.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal told the media that the CWC meeting will focus on discussing an action plan for the Indian National Congress in the coming years, with two key resolutions on the agenda.

He stated, “The meeting will deliberate on the critical challenges facing the nation under BJP rule, including economic inequality, erosion of democracy, and attacks on constitutional institutions. This will be one of the landmark programmes of the Indian National Congress.”

Jai Bapu-Jai Bhim-Jai Samvidhan Rally To Follow

General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also announced that a ‘Jai Bapu-Jai Bhim-Jai Samvidhan’ rally will take place in Belagavi on 27 December.

He explained that the Congress has named the extended CWC meeting ‘Nav Satyagrah’ to commemorate the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s announcement of the Satyagrah movement from the same city. Around 200 leaders will attend the meeting.

Ramesh asserted that the four-hour meeting is likely to pass two resolutions related to the future course of Congress action.

He further added, “Mahatma Gandhi was the president of the Indian National Congress when he announced the Satyagrah exactly 100 years ago.”

KC Venugopal, discussing the plans to commemorate the centenary of the 39th Congress session held at Belagavi and chaired by Mahatma Gandhi, remarked, “This was the only Congress session presided over by Mahatma Gandhi.”

“We are really proud of this event. The Congress party and the people who believe in nationalism are proud of this great movement. Gandhiji’s address in Belagavi focused on non-violence, non-cooperation as a means to attain political freedom, removing untouchability, promoting unity between communities, addressing socio-economic disparities, and reinforcing the principles of justice and equality,” he added.

Venugopal highlighted that Gandhiji’s 1924 speech contained key messages, and the Belagavi session became a cornerstone for both the freedom movement and socio-economic reforms.

He also highlighted that notable national leaders, including Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sarojini Naidu, and Vallabhbhai Patel, attended the session.
