The Disciplinary Committee of the UP State Bar Council in Prayagraj has found Allahabad High Court Advocate Varun Kumar Shukla guilty of professional misconduct, resulting in a six-month ban from practicing law in any court across India.
This decision comes in response to a complaint filed by Sheel Kumar Singh on November 11, 2021. Singh reported that he had purchased flat number T-19 in Maruti Vihar Apartment, Tagore Town, Prayagraj, on October 12, 2021, and took possession of it with his belongings on October 19, 2021. However, on the same day at around 6 PM, Advocate Varun Kumar Shukla, along with Advocate Sandeep Kumar Ojha and 4-5 others, allegedly vandalized and looted the flat, attempting to forcibly take possession of it.

The police were called to the scene, leading to both parties being summoned to the police station. The complainant filed an FIR on October 20, and the SP City issued a notice to him. Subsequent to the police report, action was taken under Section 145. Evidence was presented before the Additional Chief Magistrate (ACM) IV, Prayagraj, who, on June 12, 2023, ruled in favor of the complainant, declaring the opposing party’s possession illegal and prohibiting any interference with the complainant’s possession.
Following this, Singh lodged a complaint with the Bar Council. After reviewing the case, the Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Council found Advocate Varun Kumar Shukla guilty of misconduct.
