Ban On Four Species Of Trees Lifted In Himachal Pradesh

State government has also withdrawn the restrictions of export of other forest products, including khair wood, katha, cedarwood oil, and various herbs

For the benefit of the people Government of Himachal Pradesh has withdrawn the ban of export of trees of four particular species. Those species are safeda, poplar, bamboo, and kuth (a medicinal plant). These four species of plants produce quality wood.

With this people of the state can export these types of wood without any permit. Also, the transportation of wood from these species within the state can be done easily. The state Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announcing the upliftment of the ban said many farmers in the state cultivate these species for commercial reasons and this decision would facilitate them to a great extent.

Sukhu also said that the state government has also withdrawn the restrictions of export of other forest products, including khair wood, katha, cedarwood oil, and various herbs native to the state. However, to export these items out of state a valid permissions need to be taken.

The Chief Minister further said that his government is thinking to introduce the National Transit Pass System in the state, enabling individuals to obtain various e-permits from the forest department, making Himachal Pradesh the sixth state in the nation to implement this. This Pass System is expected to bring greater convenience to permit processes, enhance transparency in the department’s operations and improve departmental functioning.
