Autopsy Of Prateek Yadav Points To Cardiac Arrest Linked To Pulmonary Condition

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, died at 38 in Lucknow on Wednesday morning after battling a prolonged illness. He was also the half-brother of Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.

The autopsy concluded that the cause of death was cardiac arrest resulting from a severe pulmonary thromboembolism. This medical condition occurs when a blood clot forms in the lower body and travels to the lungs, blocking an artery and leading to a sudden collapse of heart and lung function.

Doctors retained cardiac and lung-related samples for histopathological study, while they preserved the viscera for chemical testing and submitted them to the relevant authorities.

Civil Hospital Director Dr GP Gupta stated that a medical team reached Yadav’s residence early in the morning after his health worsened around 5 AM. He was taken to the hospital shortly thereafter, where doctors declared him dead at about 5:55 AM.

The post-mortem examination also recorded six distinct injury marks on his body. These injuries included bruising and internal bleeding found on the chest, right arm, forearm, elbow, and left wrist.

The most prominent injury, measuring 14×7 cm, appeared on the chest with noticeable colour changes. Other injuries measured 19×12 cm on the right arm and 24×8 cm on the forearm, alongside smaller marks on the elbow and wrist.

Medical experts confirmed that all injuries were ante-mortem, meaning the deceased sustained them before his death. They estimated that three injuries occurred between five and seven days earlier, while the remaining three took place roughly a day before his death.

Additional examinations of the preserved samples are currently in progress to assess any other possible factors.

Authorities expect these findings to offer deeper insight into the circumstances surrounding his death.
