The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has published the Class 12 examination results, recording an overall success rate of 85.20 per cent. This marks a decrease compared to last year’s performance of 88.39 per cent.

The results reveal a drop of 3.19 percentage points, prompting concerns regarding the factors influencing student outcomes this year.

The decline has become a key point of discussion among education experts.

Out of 1,780,365 registered candidates, 1,768,968 students took the examination. Among those who appeared, 1,507,109 candidates cleared the exams successfully.

For the first time on such a scale, the Central Board of Secondary Education rolled out a digital evaluation process.

Under the ‘On-Screen Marking’ system, nearly 9,866,622 answer sheets were assessed electronically.

Female students recorded a higher pass percentage of 88.86 per cent, surpassing boys, who achieved 82.13 per cent. This places girls ahead by a margin of 6.73 percentage points.

Candidates from Delhi exceeded the national average. Delhi West achieved a pass percentage of 92.34 per cent, while Delhi East recorded 91.73 per cent.

In total, 301,977 students from the Delhi zone registered, with 300,732 appearing and 276,583 successfully passing.

The examinations were conducted from February 17 to April 10, 2026. This year saw participation from 19,967 schools and 7,573 centres, reflecting an increase compared to 2025.

The adoption of digital marking also highlights the board’s commitment to upgrading the evaluation framework. This approach is expected to enhance accuracy, speed, and transparency in the assessment process moving forward.
