Arvind Kejriwal Declares ‘Jail Bharo’ Movement Following Bibhav Kumar’s Arrest, Says, ‘Whoever You Want, We’re Ready’

Raghav Chadha, who went to the UK for an eye operation in early March, has returned to Delhi. On March 21, Kejriwal was arrested in a money laundering case related to the now-scrapped excise policy, but he received interim bail until June 1 for election campaigning.

In the midst of the ongoing controversy surrounding his former secretary Bibhav Kumar, who has been accused of assaulting party MP Swati Maliwal at his residence, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a ‘jail bharo’ programme by AAP leaders. This event is set to take place on Sunday at 12 noon at the BJP headquarters. Kejriwal declared that all Aam Aadmi Party leaders will go to the BJP headquarters and demand to be arrested.

During a press conference following Bibhav Kumar’s arrest in the Swati Maliwal case, Kejriwal stated, “It is now clear that these people are targeting the Aam Aadmi Party. They have jailed Sanjay Singh. Today, they arrested my PA. Raghav Chadha has just returned from London; there are rumors that he might be arrested next. Then there are Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj too.”

Reflecting on the situation, Kejriwal questioned the motives behind these arrests, “I was thinking why they want to arrest us. What did we do wrong? Our crime was that we developed government schools and hospitals. They are unable to achieve this. We provided 24×7 electricity. They can’t do this,” he emphasized.

With folded hands, Kejriwal appealed, “Pradhan Mantri ji, stop this jail-jail game. Tomorrow at 12 noon, I will come to the BJP headquarters with all my leaders—MLAs, MPs. Arrest whoever you want. Put us in jail together. Do you think you can crush the Aam Aadmi Party by jailing us? The Aam Aadmi Party is an idea. The more you arrest us, the more this idea spreads.”
