India’s largest dairy cooperative, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), on Wednesday announced a nationwide increase of Rs 2 per litre in Amul fresh milk prices. The revised rates will come into force from May 14 across all major markets.
GCMMF, which sells dairy products under the Amul brand, stated that the increase applies to key milk variants and packs throughout the country.
The cooperative clarified that the revision represents a rise of nearly 2.5 to 3.5 per cent in maximum retail prices.
The federation noted that the increase remains lower than average food inflation. It also highlighted that Amul had not revised milk prices since May 2025.
According to the cooperative, mounting expenses related to cattle feed, fuel, and milk packaging materials compelled the latest revision.
GCMMF further stated that member unions increased payments to milk producers by Rs 30 per kilogram of fat during the past year.
The federation described this as a 3.7 per cent increase in farmer compensation.
Under the revised Gujarat prices, Amul Taaza 500 ml will now cost Rs 29, while the one-litre pack will retail at Rs 57.
Amul Gold, Amul Cow Milk, Amul Shakti, and Buffalo Milk prices have also increased.
The federation reiterated that nearly 80 per cent of consumer payments directly benefit dairy farmers under the cooperative structure.
