Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party would seal West Bengal’s international border with Bangladesh within 45 days of forming the government after the Assembly elections.
Addressing rallies in Chandipur in East Midnapore and Salboni in West Midnapore, Shah asserted that the current administration led by Mamata Banerjee had deliberately left sections of the border unfenced, enabling illegal infiltration.
The Minister emphasised that eliminating unlawful entry remains a priority and pledged swift action through barbed fencing.
Shah criticised the ruling Trinamool Congress, alleging corruption, extortion, and rising crimes against women, and warned that individuals responsible would face legal consequences.
The Minister further claimed that relief funds worth Rs 3,000 crore allocated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Cyclone Amphan in 2020 were misappropriated, assuring accountability if his party assumes power. He also highlighted plans to revive the stalled steel project by the Jindal Group in Salboni and pledged to curb illegal sand mining across river systems.
HM Shah assured that industrial expansion would proceed without the influence of syndicates, promising transparent governance and improved law enforcement. He reiterated that the BJP’s objective extends beyond West Bengal to eliminating illegal infiltration nationwide.
The statements form a key part of the party’s campaign narrative, combining border management, anti-corruption measures, and economic development commitments.
Observers note that these assurances aim to consolidate voter support by addressing security concerns and governance challenges while projecting a structured roadmap for administrative reform in the state.
