Union Home Minister Amit Shah will undertake a two-day visit to Bikaner on May 25 and 26 to review border security and hold consultations on matters concerning Rajasthan’s frontier districts.
Arjun Ram Meghwal informed that Shah will likely arrive on the night of May 25 and stay in the city.
On May 26, Shah will preside over a high-level meeting with senior officials to assess security arrangements, infiltration prevention measures and development initiatives in border regions.
The discussions will aim to improve coordination among agencies and strengthen infrastructure.
During the tour, Shah will inspect the Sanchu border outpost and interact with personnel of the Border Security Force. He will seek direct feedback on operational issues, prevailing security challenges and plans.
Meghwal noted that the visit holds strategic importance, as it will help evaluate both security management and development concerns.
The Home Minister is also likely to examine coordination systems and existing border control mechanisms.
Officials stated that the discussions will include issues related to development in border districts, along with the concerns of residents. The visit is likely to integrate security review with regional growth priorities.
Authorities have strengthened arrangements in anticipation of the visit.
Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas conducted a review of administrative coordination and security preparedness in Jaipur.
During the meeting, Srinivas directed departments to ensure close coordination and maintain strong surveillance systems. He emphasised the need for increased vigilance in sensitive areas, quicker intelligence exchange and better joint operations.
Officials evaluated law and order conditions, reviewed anti-narcotics strategies and examined the use of drone surveillance.
Infrastructure such as police posts, CCTV systems, communication networks and the Bharatmala corridor were also assessed.
The Chief Secretary instructed authorities to improve monitoring and strengthen rapid response systems to reinforce border security.
Senior representatives from agencies, including the Narcotics Control Bureau, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Border Roads Organisation, attended the meeting.
District officials from Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar and Phalodi participated through video conferencing.
Officials said the review was aimed at ensuring seamless coordination and readiness before the Home Minister’s arrival.
