Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah will address a national-level cooperative conference in Panchkula, Haryana, highlighting how cooperatives are shaping sustainable and resilient agriculture across India.
Organised by Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO), the conference is themed ‘Prosperity through Cooperation – Role of Cooperatives in Sustainable Agriculture’.
The event will bring together policymakers, cooperative leaders and stakeholders to deliberate on strategies that support farmers amid evolving climate and economic challenges.
Discussions at the summit will centre on policy formulation and on-ground implementation aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
The conference will prioritise expanding the role of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and improving access to affordable credit. It will also focus on ensuring income stability for small and marginal farmers.
Policymakers are positioning the cooperative model as a key instrument to address climate change, enhance productivity, and strengthen rural livelihoods.
Key Participation and Developmental Initiatives
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will attend the conference as a special guest, underscoring the state government’s support for cooperative-driven development.
During the event, Amit Shah will e-inaugurate major infrastructure projects, including a Milk Cooling Centre at KRIBHCO’s Salempur plant in Bhiwani and the HAFED Atta Mill at Jatusana in Rewari.
The Union Minister will also distribute RuPay Platinum Debit Cards to beneficiaries of Haryana’s cooperative banks and hand over registration certificates to presidents of newly established Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (M-PACS) formed by Haryana KRIBHCO.
Another key highlight will be the launch of a dedicated portal showcasing activities planned during the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
The conference will stress the exchange of advanced agricultural knowledge, adoption of modern technologies, and promotion of organic and climate-resilient farming through cooperative networks.
KRIBHCO, which has supported millions of farmers nationwide through fertiliser distribution, advisory services and farmer-centric programmes, views the Panchkula conference as a milestone in giving renewed direction to India’s cooperative movement.
