Amit Shah Says Ahmedabad Must Emerge As Major Tech Hub Alongside Bengaluru, Hyderabad

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said Gujarat must now aim to secure a leading position in India’s service sector, adding that Ahmedabad should establish itself alongside Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurugram as a major technology and innovation hub.

Addressing the launch of Million Minds Tech City, Gujarat’s first SEZ IT park, Shah said the state had already achieved significant success in industrial growth and was now entering a new phase focused on technology, innovation and high-skilled employment generation.

“We have done very good work in manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, ports, logistics, green energy, industrial infrastructure and investment. But now the time has come to take Gujarat into the top one, two or three positions in the service sector as well,” he said.

Shah stated that Ahmedabad needs large-scale tech parks such as the one under development to compete with India’s established technology centres.

“If Ahmedabad has to establish itself alongside Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurugram in the service sector, then tech parks like this are extremely necessary,” he said.

The Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister for giving industrial development in the state a structured direction through infrastructure expansion, ease of doing business reforms and entrepreneurship-driven policies.

“I can say with confidence that no state outside Gujarat has witnessed such structured industrial development. The whole world acknowledges this,” Shah further noted.

Tech City Plan

Developers have built the first phase of Million Minds Tech City across 13.5 lakh square feet with an investment of around Rs 1,100 crore. The project is likely to create an advanced workspace for 9,000 high-skilled professionals.

The broader seven-phase project, spread across 65 acres, is to generate over 63,000 high-value jobs in the next five years with a total investment of nearly Rs 15,000 crore.

Bhupendra Patel, Harsh Sanghavi and senior representatives of Ganesh Housing Limited attended the programme.
