Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, where a massive blaze at the multi-storey Lemon Green Restaurant killed at least 20 people and injured several others. He said he was ‘deeply grieved’ by the loss of lives and assured that authorities were providing the best possible medical care to the injured.
In a post on social media platform X, Shah said that the local administration and emergency services were carrying out relief and rescue operations at the site. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for strength for them to bear the loss. He also wished a swift recovery for those injured.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed grief over the incident, calling it ‘heart-wrenching’. He offered condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

According to officials, the fire broke out early Wednesday morning at the multi-storey building housing the Lemon Green Restaurant in Malviya Nagar.
Ten fire tenders rushed to the spot, and firefighters brought the blaze under control after intense operations, though the building suffered extensive damage.
Authorities evacuated at least 37 people and shifted them to nearby hospitals, with several injured in critical condition.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing as officials look for those possibly trapped inside the building.
Teams from the Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Services and disaster response units are closely monitoring the situation. Some occupants also attempted to jump from upper floors to escape the blaze.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire and are examining all possible angles while rescue work continues.
