Amit Shah Pays Tribute To Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj On Birth Anniversary

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary on Wednesday, remembering him as a fearless warrior and a steadfast protector of Hindavi Swaraj.

In a post shared on social media, Shah said Sambhaji Maharaj imbibed the values of patriotism, protection of dharma, and Hindavi Swaraj from an early age. He noted that the Maratha ruler freed several strategic regions from Mughal occupation and defeated Mughal forces in numerous battles.

The Minister further stated that Sambhaji Maharaj remained committed throughout his life to resisting religious conversions and preserving the ideals of swadharma, swabhasha, and swaraj. He said the Maratha king never allowed the torch of these values to fade and ultimately sacrificed his life for them.

Describing him as ‘Dharmaveer’, Shah offered his respects to Sambhaji Maharaj and honoured his enduring legacy of courage, sacrifice, and devotion to Swarajya.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, ruled the Maratha Empire from 1681 to 1689.

Historians remember him for his resistance against Mughal expansion under Aurangzeb and for defending the ideals of Swarajya during a turbulent phase in Indian history.

Born on May 14, 1657, Sambhaji Maharaj is widely regarded as one of the most prominent figures in Maratha history for his military leadership and unwavering stand against foreign rule.
