Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday that Pakistan had admitted to being a safe haven for terrorists by calling India’s airstrikes on terror camps an attack on itself.
Speaking at a public rally in Poonch, Shah highlighted how Pakistan’s reaction confirmed its role in sheltering terrorism.
“We targeted terrorists, and Pakistan called it an attack on itself, thus admitting it harbours terrorists,” Shah said.
He added that while India’s precision strikes caused no military or civilian casualties, Pakistan responded by shelling civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC).
Shah stated that Pakistan’s shelling caused the most damage in Poonch, which witnessed such attacks for the first time since Independence.
“The entire world now condemns Pakistan’s targeting of civilians,” he noted.
In response to Pakistan’s actions, Shah said Indian forces destroyed 11 Pakistani airfields.
“This decisive action forced them to seek a ceasefire,” he added.
Opening his speech, Shah offered condolences to families who lost loved ones in the shelling. He distributed appointment letters to the next of kin of the deceased as a gesture of support.
“These letters cannot replace your loss, but they show the nation stands with you,” Shah said.
Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, Shah said India responded in line with Prime Minister Modi’s policy of strong retaliation.
“On May 7, our forces destroyed terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and PoK. Our intelligence agencies and armed forces eliminated dozens of terrorists,” he said.
Shah assured the public that India would not tolerate any aggression. “Next time, we will respond with even greater force,” he said.
The Union Minister confirmed that the Jammu and Kashmir government had provided immediate relief to victims.
He announced that the Centre would soon unveil a comprehensive relief package for Poonch.
“The development journey that began in 2014 under Modi will continue,” Shah asserted.
Shah credited over 9,500 bunkers constructed since 2014 with saving many lives during the three-day hostilities.
“We evacuated people to safer locations to prevent more casualties. I have instructed the administration to build more bunkers to protect border residents,” he added.
Reiterating Prime Minister Modi’s stand, Shah said, “Terror and trade, blood and water cannot go together. Our national defence will grow stronger.”
He assured the people that the temporary disruption in Jammu and Kashmir’s progress would soon end, and development would resume with full momentum.
