Amit Shah Meets Grieving Families In Srinagar After Pahalgam Tragedy

In the wake of Tuesday’s deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of innocent tourists, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday met the bereaved families outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar.

Shah took to X to express that every Indian feels the pain of losing loved ones in the Pahalgam terror attack and that such sorrow is beyond words.

He assured the grieving families and the entire nation that officials would not spare the terrorists responsible for killing innocent and helpless people.

Prior to the meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid his respects at a solemn wreath-laying ceremony held in memory of the victims.

“With a heavy heart, paid last respects to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack. Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared,” Shah posted on X.

Pahalgam Terror Attack: A Nation In Mourning

The attack, which has cast a shadow of grief over the Kashmir Valley and the entire nation, left the region reeling in sorrow.

Overwhelmed with anguish, the victims’ families emotionally appealed to the Home Minister, sharing their pain and despair after the tragic loss of their loved ones.

Congress MP KC Venugopal and Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra were also present at the ceremony, where they too paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack.

The incident took place in the scenic Pahalgam area of Anantnag district, a place known for its natural beauty, which has now become a site of mourning.

It is one of the most severe attacks since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

Following his interaction with the grieving families, the Home Minister will likely visit Pahalgam.

Security measures have been intensified in the region, with army personnel deployed to Baisaran meadow, where the attack occurred.

Valley Shuts Down In Protest

As Kashmir comes to terms with the tragic events, political parties and traders’ unions across the Valley have called for a complete shutdown on Wednesday to express solidarity with the victims’ families and to denounce the attack.

Earlier on Tuesday, Shah chaired a high-level security meeting with various agencies upon his arrival in Srinagar. He had vowed that those behind the ‘dastardly act’ would face the harshest consequences.

Taking to X, Shah posted, “Anguished by the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts are with the family members of the deceased. Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared, and we will come down heavily on the perpetrators with the harshest consequences.”

Briefed PM Shri @narendramodi Ji about the incident and held a meeting with the concerned officials via video conferencing. Will shortly leave for Srinagar to hold an urgent security review meeting with all the agencies,” the post added.
