Amit Shah Leads BJP's Maha Padyatra Against INDIA Bloc's SIR Campaign In Hyderabad

Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined BJP leaders and supporters in Hyderabad on Monday to lead a ‘Maha Padyatra’ against the INDIA bloc’s campaign opposing SIR.

The procession started at the Babu Jagjivan Ram Statue in Basheerbagh and covered 1.5 kilometres.

Shah walked alongside Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Telangana BJP chief N Ramchander Rao, party MPs, MLAs, MLCs and hundreds of workers.

Shah carried the national flag as the march proceeded through central Hyderabad.

Organisers planned to end the rally at Moazzam Jahi Market, where the Home Minister would address a corner meeting.

Shah planned to respond to the INDIA bloc’s criticism following its rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.

Before joining the procession, Shah accused Congress of attempting to regain power through what he described as undemocratic actions.

Taking to X, the Home Minister posted, “Reeling from successive defeats in the elections, the Congress Party is now determined by any means to seize power, even if it means murdering democracy through their anarchic actions. To protect our democracy from the Congress Party’s nefarious attempts, I will participate in the grand padayatra titled ‘Let Us Safeguard Democracy – Let Us End Anarchism’ taking place this evening in Hyderabad.”

BJP representatives called on citizens to support the march and defend democratic values and constitutional institutions.

Traffic police introduced restrictions across central Hyderabad to manage movement during the procession.

Officials redirected vehicles in Basheerbagh, Nampally, Abids, Jambagh, MJ Market, Koti and Afzal Gunj.

Before the march, Shah prayed at the Bhagyalakshmi Temple near the historic Charminar. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao accompanied him.

BJP leaders, including Bandi Sanjay Kumar and several MPs, received Shah at Begumpet Airport when he arrived in Hyderabad.
