Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu convened a meeting on Friday to assess major concerns related to development and security in the national capital. The discussion centred on accelerating progress while addressing administrative and civic priorities.
LG Sandhu outlined the steps to realise the ‘Viksit Delhi 2047’ vision during the meeting. These measures include tackling air pollution, cleaning the Yamuna river, and modernising transit corridors to ensure sustainable development and improved living standards.

Key Discussions and Strategic Engagements
Earlier, Lieutenant Governor Sandhu held discussions with experts from the School of Planning and Architecture regarding the redevelopment of key transit corridors across Delhi.
Describing the proposal, he said, “A comprehensive presentation was made by the reputed School of Planning & Architecture, Delhi on the redevelopment of transit corridors in Delhi, aimed at transforming them into green, pedestrian-friendly, employment-oriented, and recreational stretches functional 24×7.”
“This impactful initiative aligns with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for urban rejuvenation—promoting tourism, boosting local consumption, and generating employment opportunities,” the post read.
Highlighting the scale of the initiative, Lieutenant Governor Sandhu stressed the importance of cooperation among multiple civic bodies.
“Assured Prof Dr Virendra Kr Paul, Director, SPA Delhi, of full support in examining the project’s viability and facilitating effective inter-agency coordination for its successful implementation,” he posted.

The Lieutenant Governor also interacted with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to deliberate on infrastructure-related challenges.

In another engagement, Lieutenant Governor Sandhu met Johannes Zutt and posted, “Met with Johannes Zutt, Vice President of the World Bank, at Lok Niwas. Held a constructive discussion on leveraging global expertise and strengthening partnerships across key sectors, including urban rejuvenation, education, sanitation, and skill development.”
“Delhi remains firmly committed to sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for all its residents, in line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji,” the post added.
