Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed firm confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will secure a third consecutive mandate in the forthcoming Assam Legislative Assembly election 2026 scheduled for April 9, 2026.
In a recent social media post, HM Shah shared a 55-second video montage capturing enormous campaign gatherings across Assam. The footage features prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing enthusiastic crowds.

The BJP first came to power in Assam in 2016, securing 86 seats in the 126-member Assembly. The party retained authority in the 2021 elections with 60 seats under Sarma’s leadership.
The government has since promoted extensive infrastructure expansion, including major bridge projects across the Brahmaputra River.
Officials also emphasise employment initiatives that reportedly generated 1.65 lakh jobs for young people.
According to political observers, these development measures have contributed to the state’s rapid economic progress.
Assam is now frequently cited as the third-fastest growing state economy in India.
Government campaigns also highlight anti-encroachment drives and governance reforms as central pillars of the administration’s agenda.
A January 2026 survey by People’s Pulse projected that the BJP remains well-positioned to retain power in the upcoming polls.
Analysts note that the party’s digital campaign, particularly the hashtag #BJP4AssamYuva, directly targets voters aged 18 to 35. This demographic forms roughly 35 per cent of the electorate and widely credits the administration for transparent recruitment and social reform initiatives.
