Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday criticised Rahul Gandhi, calling his remarks on alleged corruption by the Trinamool Congress a ‘belated realisation’.

Responding to Gandhi’s video message on X, Shah stated that the observation had come too late.

Gandhi had remarked that if Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had governed transparently and avoided polarisation, the Bharatiya Janata Party would not have gained ground in West Bengal.

Addressing the media during a roadshow ahead of the second phase of polling, Shah expressed strong confidence in the BJP’s prospects. He asserted that party leader Suvendu Adhikari would secure a decisive victory against Banerjee in the Bhabanipur constituency.

HM Amit Shah further claimed that public sentiment against the Trinamool leadership had nearly doubled compared to the 2021 Assembly elections. He maintained that the BJP is advancing towards forming the government with a commanding majority.

In a separate message on X, HM Amit Shah warned Trinamool supporters against disrupting the electoral process, issuing a stern caution over any interference.

Commenting on the parallel political development, HM Amit Shah referred to the recent split within the Aam Aadmi Party. He noted that the decision by Raghav Chadha and other MPs to exit the party stemmed from multiple internal reasons cited by them.

Chadha recently announced the merger of his faction with the BJP, alleging that AAP had drifted away from its principles of honest governance.

The developments signal a significant shift in the national political landscape.
