Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will visit Bhopal on October 2-3, with his programme focusing on Madhya Pradesh’s dairy sector, livestock economy, farmers and cooperative institutions.

Shah will arrive in Bhopal around 09:00 PM on October 2 and stay overnight. His schedule on October 3 will include programmes covering farmers, livestock, cooperation, new criminal laws, higher education and road infrastructure.

The main event will be the state-level Gopalak Conference, which is expected to bring together more than 35,000 cattle rearers and dairy cooperative members.

Participants will attend from Bhopal, Sehore, Betul, Rajgarh, Harda, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shajapur, Vidisha, Raisen and Narmadapuram.

During the conference, Shah will distribute bonuses to livestock rearers associated with the Bhopal and Indore milk unions.

Financial assistance will be provided to gaushalas, while Gopalak Didis will be honoured.

Approval letters under the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Scheme will be distributed, while officials will brief Shah on initiatives launched during the state’s Year of Farmer Welfare and the Balram Agriculture Festival.

The Home, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Cooperation, Public Works and Transport departments will make presentations during the visit.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reviewed preparations on Monday. He directed officials to ensure adequate seating, drinking water, sanitation, security and traffic arrangements.

The visit will highlight investments in dairy infrastructure. A Rs 255-crore dairy plant has been proposed in Ujjain, while a Rs 16.80-crore facility for formulated and fermented milk products is planned at the Bhopal Milk Union premises. The facility will increase processing capacity for curd, buttermilk, lassi, shrikhand and mawa.

The programmes come as Madhya Pradesh expands its Farmer ID system.
