Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a blistering attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s regime while addressing a massive public rally in Khagaria, Bihar.
He accused Lalu’s government of allowing rampant crime, saying that during that era, murder, robbery, extortion, and kidnapping had become routine incidents across the state.
“People lived in constant fear,” Shah declared, evoking loud applause from the crowd.
He asserted that the RJD’s rule led to the collapse of law and order, driving industries away and keeping Bihar economically backward.
“Lalu’s misrule turned Bihar into a state people feared to invest in,” he said.
Drawing a sharp contrast, Shah praised the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government for restoring peace, curbing Left Wing Extremism, and laying the groundwork for development.
“This election is not merely about sending MLAs or ministers to Patna; it will decide whether Bihar returns to lawlessness or continues its journey towards progress,” he remarked.
He outlined the NDA’s four pillars of governance — education, healthcare, irrigation, and drinking water — describing them as essential for Bihar’s long-term growth.
Shah also criticised the opposition Grand Alliance, accusing it of corruption and dynastic politics.
“Lalu Prasad wants to make his son Chief Minister, while Sonia Gandhi dreams of making her son Prime Minister,” he said, adding that both parties prioritised family power over public welfare.
Highlighting the integrity of PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar, Shah said that neither leader had ever faced corruption charges, unlike the scams of Lalu’s tenure, including the infamous fodder scam.
Targeting the INDIA bloc on national security, Shah accused the opposition of supporting illegal infiltration.
“Rahul Gandhi says infiltrators should stay in Bihar. I want to make it clear — no matter how many rallies he holds, he cannot save them. If the NDA is re-elected, every infiltrator will be identified and expelled,” he vowed, drawing chants from the crowd.
Shah also cited key welfare measures of the Bihar government, including ₹10,000 transfers to Jeevika self-help group members, enhanced widow and old-age pensions, higher ASHA worker honoraria, and rapid progress on the Patna Metro project.
He credited PM Modi’s leadership for India’s economic resilience and defence preparedness.
Extending warm greetings for the Chhath festival, Shah prayed for peace, prosperity, and safety in Bihar.
“The great festival of Chhath has begun. I pray to Chhath Maiya that Bihar remains free from lawlessness, our sisters and daughters stay safe, and the state achieves full development,” he said, concluding his address amid thunderous applause.
