The city was adorned with festivity as the procession, symbolizing Lord Shiva’s wedding, commenced from the Baba Baleshwarnath shrine in all its splendor.

The fervor of Mahashivratri was palpable throughout the city, with enthusiastic participants eager to join Bholenath’s wedding procession. Petals rained down on Lord Shiva while vibrant colors of abir and gulal filled the air. Men, women, and children walked alongside the procession, immersed in a sea of unwavering faith. Colorful characters, including ghosts and monkeys, added to the lively atmosphere as they pretended to be wedding guests, following Lord Shiva with enthusiasm. The rhythmic beats of Damru and chants of “Har-Har Mahadev” echoed across the city, resonating with devotion.

The Baba Baleshwarnath temple became the focal point of the celebration, with crowds gathering to witness the captivating tableaus displayed during the procession. Numerous stalls were set up across the city, offering refreshments to the procession attendees and devotees. Bhandara, considered as Prasad, was distributed among the public, while stalls serving Thandai and Laddu attracted large crowds. The police worked tirelessly to maintain order amidst the bustling festivities.

Following its route through the Durga Temple, Japlinganj, and Ramlila Maidan, Baba Baleshwarnath’s procession concluded at Baba Mandir, where a grand Dwar Puja was performed. The energetic youth, dancing to the tunes of the DJ, remained entirely devoted to Lord Shiva throughout the celebration, adding to the spirit of devotion and joy that characterized the Mahashivratri festivities in Ballia.
