Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has called for the closure of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), arguing that these agencies are unnecessary and often misused for political purposes. He stated that the Income Tax department is sufficient to handle financial fraud, and each state’s Anti-Corruption Department can address corruption issues. Yadav criticized the use of CBI and ED for political manipulation, questioning why they haven’t investigated issues like the demonetization process and the alleged conversion of black money to white.

Yadav plans to propose the disbandment of these agencies to the INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties. He expressed confidence that this proposal would be considered if the alliance comes to power.

While traveling from Lucknow to Amethi and Rae Bareli, Yadav emphasized the strength and longevity of the alliance between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress, stating that it would continue regardless of the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections. He reassured that their cooperation would persist through upcoming elections, with the immediate goal being to form the national government.

Campaigning for Congress in the constituencies of Rae Bareli and Amethi, where Rahul Gandhi is the candidate for Rae Bareli, Yadav highlighted the unity and enthusiasm of their joint rallies. He noted improved collaboration between SP and Congress workers compared to previous elections. Both parties coordinated their efforts meticulously, even synchronizing the landing of their leaders’ helicopters to demonstrate solidarity.

Akhilesh Yadav affirmed that the partnership would endure even if Congress performs poorly, as it did in 2019, when it won only one seat in Uttar Pradesh and 51 overall. He remains committed to maintaining the gathbandhan and ensuring the continuity of the INDIA alliance at the national level.
