Air India Flight AI 171 crashed during takeoff at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday, resulting in a tragic incident.
The flight was scheduled to fly from Ahmedabad to London, but it met with a serious accident on the runway just moments after it began its takeoff roll.
According to the Gujarat State Police Control Room, the crash occurred shortly after the aircraft began accelerating on the runway.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise, followed by thick smoke billowing from the aircraft.
The visuals showed the runway engulfed in smoke, raising concerns about possible casualties and injuries.

Emergency services respond swiftly After Flight Crash
Soon after the crash, fire tenders and emergency rescue teams rushed to the accident site.
The airport authorities activated emergency protocols to contain the fire and secure the area.
Firefighters worked diligently to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Airport officials halted all other operations at the airport temporarily to prioritise rescue and safety measures.
The injured, if any, were expected to be shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Official details on casualties are still awaited.
Taking to X, Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu posted, “Shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad. We are on highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action.”
“Rescue teams have been mobilised, and all efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site. My thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families,” the post added.

Union Home Minister reviews flight crash
Union Home Minister Amit Shah took immediate note of the incident and reached out to top state officials.
He spoke with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik to assess the situation on the ground.
Shah assured the state government that the Centre would provide all necessary support and assistance to handle the crisis.
“The Central government stands with the people of Gujarat and the passengers affected by this unfortunate event. All help and resources will be extended,” Shah said in a statement.
Moreover, Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and assured full support of NDRF teams and the Central Government for the rescue and relief operations in this plane crash.
Investigation launched into cause of crash
Authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Civil aviation authorities, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), will inspect the site. They will begin evaluating the aircraft systems, crew actions, and airport facilities.
