Gopal Rai announces names for upcoming Mayoral elections of Delhi

Delhi Minister and AAP Leader Gopal Rai addressed media on Thursday to reveal the names of candidates for the upcoming mayor elections of Delhi. During the same address, the AAP leader brought up the matter of the last mayoral elections held in the nation, in Chandigarh and accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of ‘stealing votes in Chandigarh to form Mayor.

He said, “In a way, BJP went to the extent of stealing votes in Chandigarh to form Mayor…The people of Delhi have given the majority to AAP; earlier also we fought the election successfully and formed our Mayor, similarly, AAP’s Mayor will be formed this time as well. Mahesh Khichi, a Dev Nagar Ward-Karol Bagh councillor is AAP’s candidate for Mayor; Ravinder Bhardwaj, who is also a councillor from Aman Vihar Ward will be AAP’s candidate for Deputy Mayor…”

Gopal Rai revealed the names of the candidates and announced that Mahesh Khichi is going to be the candidate for the position of Mayor, while the deputy Mayor candidate is Ravinder Bhardwaj.

The AAP leader said, “This year the Mayor is to be elected from the reserved category. This time the Mayor candidate from AAP will be Mahesh Khichi. He is a councillor from Dev Nagar Ward-84 of Karol Bagh…”

“Ravinder Bhardwaj to be AAP’s candidate for Deputy Mayor. He is a councillor from Aman Vihar Ward-41. Both (candidates) will file nominations today at 12 noon,” he further added.

Election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Delhi will be held on 26th April, 2024.
