AAP Denounces Allegations: Kejriwal’s Missing Phone Sparks Controversy Amid Liquor Scam Probe

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi has vehemently opposed claims by investigators suggesting that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal disposed of his old phone, which may have contained evidence related to an alleged liquor scam. The Enforcement Directorate, conducting the investigation, alleges that 170 phones were disposed of by witnesses to eliminate crucial evidence.

AAP had dismissed these allegations yesterday, with party sources suggesting that the investigation is biased, being conducted with a political agenda from the BJP office. They accused the Enforcement Directorate of being politically aligned with the BJP.

However, this morning, Delhi Minister Atishi asserted that the Enforcement Directorate is an independent investigating agency. She emphasized that if the agency has evidence, it should present it by filing a chargesheet and letting the judicial process take its course.

Addressing the officers of the Enforcement Directorate, Atishi emphasized the importance of upholding the constitution and the law. She urged them not to let political affiliations influence their actions, stating, “You are not a subsidiary organization of the Bharatiya Janata Party. You are an independent investigative agency created under the laws of this country.”

According to sources within the agency, the phone used by Mr. Kejriwal during the period of the alleged liquor scam, approximately two years ago, cannot be located. When questioned about its whereabouts, the Chief Minister stated that he was unaware of its location.

Mr. Kejriwal was arrested late on Thursday evening and is currently under questioning by the Enforcement Directorate. He is slated to remain in the agency’s custody until March 28th.
