PM Modi Honored with Bhutan’s Highest Civilian Award, Shares Special Dinner at Lingkana Palace

During a recent visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bestowed with Bhutan’s highest civilian award, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, by Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk. This historic honor marks PM Modi as the first leader of any country to receive this prestigious accolade.

Special Dinner Hosted at Lingkana Palace

In addition to the award ceremony, a special dinner was arranged at Lingkana Palace by King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk in honor of Prime Minister Modi. Attended by the king’s family, including his wife and children, the intimate gathering fostered a familial bond with PM Modi. Notably, this marked the first time the King of Bhutan hosted a private dinner for the Indian Prime Minister.

PM Modi Expresses Gratitude

In response to the recognition bestowed upon him, PM Modi expressed his gratitude, stating, “Every award is special in itself. But when an award is received from another country, it strengthens the confidence that both our countries are moving in the right direction.” He emphasized that the honor symbolizes the collaborative efforts benefiting both nations, providing further motivation to continue working tirelessly for their mutual advancement. PM Modi underscored that the honor isn’t just a personal achievement but a testament to India’s collective success, representing the 140 crore Indians.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Reflecting on the enduring friendship between India and Bhutan, PM Modi humbly accepted the honor on behalf of all Indians, affirming, “140 crore Indians know that the people of Bhutan are members of their own family.” He expressed gratitude towards the King of Bhutan and its people, emphasizing the unbreakable bond and unwavering friendship between the two nations. PM Modi’s remarks highlight the deep-rooted ties and mutual respect shared between India and Bhutan, further strengthening their bilateral relations.
