Congress Releases Sixth List of Candidates for Lok Sabha Elections in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu

On Monday, the Congress party unveiled its sixth list comprising five candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. In Rajasthan, the party announced four candidates, with Ramchandra Choudhary contesting from Ajmer, Sudarshan Rawat from Rajsamand, Damodar Gurjar from Bhilwara, and Prahlad Gunjal challenging Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in the Kota constituency.

Rajasthan, with 25 parliamentary constituencies, will witness polling in two phases. The first phase, scheduled for April 19, will cover 12 seats, while the remaining 13 seats will go to polls in the second phase on April 26.

Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, C Robert Bruce will represent the Congress party in the Tirunelveli constituency. Tamil Nadu is set to vote on all 39 Lok Sabha seats on April 19.

Additionally, the Congress party announced Tharahai Cuthbert as its candidate for the bye-election in the Vilavancode constituency in Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, on Sunday, the Congress had released its fifth list, naming Pratap Singh Khachariyawas as the candidate from Jaipur, replacing Sunil Sharma. Meanwhile, the BJP also released its fifth list, revealing candidates for various Lok Sabha seats across several states, including Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency and veteran actor Arun Govil from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut.

The Lok Sabha elections, spanning 543 seats, are set to take place in seven phases commencing from April 19. With nearly 97 crore eligible voters, the counting of votes will occur on June 4.

In the previous Lok Sabha elections in 2019, the BJP secured 303 seats, while the Indian National Congress managed to secure only 52 seats. Similarly, in the 2014 elections, the BJP won 282 seats, with the Congress party securing 44 seats.
