BJP Drops Fifth List Of Candidates For Lok Sabha Elections 2024; There Are A Few Surprises

BJP releases fifth candidate list for upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024

Bhartiya Janata Party is keeping its best players ahead for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. BJP has dropped a bomb full of surprises with its fifth list of candidates containing 111 names. Along with Varun Gandhi, VK Singh, and Ashwini Kumar Choubey, three union ministers, the party has dismissed 37 sitting members. It has unexpectedly fielded actors Arun Govil and Kangana Ranaut.

The list includes a number of prominent former members of the Congress party as well as other Opposition politicians who joined the BJP. These are the salient points of the BJP’s fifth list.

Sambalpur-born Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been put forward by the BJP. Sambit Patra, a BJP spokesperson, will run from Puri; in 2019, he was defeated in the polls.

  1. Anantkumar Hegde, a six-time Karnataka MP, was fired by the BJP over a contentious comment he made about the Constitution.
  2. Thirteen MPs from Uttar Pradesh, five from Gujarat, four from Odisha, and three from each of Bihar, Karnataka, and Jharkhand have not been granted tickets by the party.
  3. On the last are a number of politicians who left other parties to join the BJP, such as Sita Soren, Tapas Roy, and N Kiran Kumar Reddy. Naveen Jindal and Jitin Prasada, two former Congressmen, have been fielded from Kurukshetra and Pilibhit, respectively.
  4. Rahul Gandhi will face Kerala BJP President K Surendra.
  5. Rekha Patra has been fielded from West Bengal’s Basirhat constituency. Party leaders claim that Patra is one of the Sandeshkhali victims.
  6. Former government minister Ravi Shankar Prasad received a ticket from Patna Sahib, while union minister Giriraj Singh received one from Begusarai.
  7. Additionally, R K Singh and Nityanand Rai, two union ministers, have been fielded from their current positions.
  8. Maneka Gandhi, the mother of sitting MP Varun Gandhi, has been renominated from Sultanpur, while Varun Gandhi has been removed from office.
  9. V K Singh, a two-term MP, has been replaced in Ghaziabad by Atul Garg.
  10. While Arun Govil, who portrayed Lord Ram in Ramayan, has been fielded from Meerut, Kangana Ranaut will fight for the Lok Sabha from Mandi.
  11. The BJP’s candidate from Dumka is Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of former chief minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren. A few days prior, she had left the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
  12. Jagadish Shettar, a former chief minister of Karnataka, will run from Belgaum.
  13. Abhijit Gangopadhyay, a former judge of the Calcutta High Court, will run from Tamluk in Bengal. Dilip Ghosh, the Medinipur MP, was unexpectedly moved to Bardhaman, Durgapur.
