AAIB Submits Preliminary Report On AI 171 Plane Crash To Civil Aviation Ministry

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has submitted its preliminary report on the Air India Flight AI 171 crash to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and other relevant authorities.

The document outlines the early findings of the investigation and marks a significant step towards understanding the cause of the tragic incident.

The preliminary assessment includes technical analysis of the aircraft’s systems, weather conditions at the time of the crash, pre-flight procedures, and the sequence of events leading up to the accident.

According to the officials familiar with the matter, investigators are currently exploring both human and technical factors to determine what might have caused the crash.

The data retrieved from the aircraft’s black box contains a Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and a Flight Data Recorder (FDR). These recordings provide insight into the final moments of the flight and the communication between pilots, offering critical clues to the investigative team.

The AAIB has not assigned blame or confirmed a definitive cause. Sources noted that the initial data points to several areas of concern, including a possible technical malfunction. However, investigators are also reviewing crew decision-making and compliance with operational protocols.

Ministry response and safety measures

After taking a look at this report, the Ministry of Civil Aviation can examine the initial findings. They may also issue directives to strengthen the aviation safety measures.

The Ministry has indicated that it will wait for the final report before making any formal conclusions or policy changes.

A senior official from the Ministry stated, “The preliminary report provides us with a framework to begin understanding what may have gone wrong. We are committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure passenger safety and prevent future incidents.”

Ongoing investigation

The AAIB emphasised that the preliminary report is not the final word on the incident. The bureau continues its work on a comprehensive final report. This report will include detailed technical analysis, expert evaluations, and statements from witnesses and aviation personnel.

This final report will aim to present a conclusive narrative of the crash. This will also offer recommendations to avoid similar tragedies in the future.

The complexity of the data and coordination with the international aviation bodies may impact the timeline for its release.

As the investigation proceeds, the aviation community and affected families await more definitive answers. Moreover, authorities continue efforts to enhance air travel safety across the country.
