Police stated Sunday that one person was killed and more than 20 were injured in a blast at a convention center in Kalamassery.
According to a Kalamassery police officer, the cause of the blast and if there were many explosions were not confirmed.
As per the reports, the explosion occurred at a Christian group’s convention centre.
He stated that a call concerning the explosion and the need for police help was received at 9 a.m.
On TV, visuals of the incident showed a huge number of firefighters and police officers rescuing individuals from the scene.
Disturbing images of the explosion inside the conference centre showed several fires within the hall while people screamed in terror.
Following the explosion, hundreds of people were visible outside the convention centre.
