Delhi man shoots woman dead, kills self minutes later with same weapon
Using the same country-made pistol, a 23-year-old man allegedly shot and killed a 42-year-old woman outside her home in Vaishali in Dabri Extension of southwest Delhi on Thursday night before killing himself on the terrace of a three-story building in the same neighborhood, where he also lived with his family in a rented apartment, according to the police on Friday.
The two of them first met at a gym
Senior police officials claimed that the two had first met at a neighborhood gym about two years prior, but that the woman’s in-laws, specifically her husband, did not approve of their association. If their acquaintanceship has anything to do with the murder-suicide case, investigators are looking into it. The officers claimed that preliminary checks had shown they were still friendly.
What specifically motivated the man, known only by his first name Ashish, to murder Renu Goyal before taking his own life is still under investigation. There was no suicide note found on Ashish or at his home. According to deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka) Harsha Vardhan, “We are interacting with members of both families, their relatives, neighbors, and acquaintances in an effort to gather information that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding the murder and suicide.
Shot at a point-blank range
According to Vardhan, the Dabri police station learned of a homicide on Thursday at 8:45 p.m. Outside of her home, a police squad discovered the woman’s body who had been shot at point-blank range. The head had been struck by the bullet at the right temple. When questioned, it was discovered that she was a housewife.
“Who killed Goyal by shooting him was not immediately obvious. The CCTV equipment was examined. It was discovered that she was shot at close range by a man who had approached her. He then walked away from the location. We discovered that she was friends with a man named Ashish and that their association had caused problems in her family through the human intelligence network, Vardhan added.
Five minutes from the crime scene, Ashish’s home is where a police squad lead by an inspector met him and his family. His absence from the house in the evening, according to the family, was reported. When the crew searched the area for him, they discovered his dead on the terrace with a gunshot wound to the right temple. A country-made pistol was found near his right hand, suggesting that he shot himself dead, the DCP said.

Due to a birthday celebration taking place close by, residents of the building claimed to not have heard the gunshot. According to the authorities, Ashish’s family is from Barauth in Uttar Pradesh.
Investigators are looking through Goyal and Ashish’s cellphones for any texts that would indicate that there were significant problems between them. It’s possible that the woman was attempting to end their friendship, and Ashish didn’t like it.
Under the condition of anonymity, a police officer added that the origin of the gun was also being determined.
The police further stated that a murder case had been opened.
