80th Independence Day: PM Modi Picks Up Girl’s Cap After She Touches His Feet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi created a touching moment at the Red Fort after concluding his Independence Day address on Saturday.

As the formal ceremony ended with Vande Mataram and the National Anthem, PM Modi moved towards schoolchildren, NCC cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers. He broke protocol and asked his motorcade to stop.

The Prime Minister then walked towards the youth seated in the enclosures, greeted them, shook hands and exchanged a few words.

A particularly heartwarming moment unfolded when a young girl bent down to touch the Prime Minister’s feet. Her cap slipped off and fell to the ground.

Prime Minister Modi immediately picked it up and gently placed it back on her head. The spontaneous gesture drew smiles and applause from those nearby.

The children responded with visible excitement. Several later told the media that meeting the Prime Minister was thrilling and unforgettable.

Students wearing vibrant yellow and dark blue outfits formed the number ’70’ at the venue. The formation symbolised seven decades of independent India’s journey, although the nation marked its 80th Independence Day.

The interaction reflected the youth-centric focus of PM Modi’s address. He announced free online coaching for competitive examinations, a nationwide sports talent hunt, and plans to train one crore Gen Z youth in Artificial Intelligence and semiconductor technologies.

By stepping beyond protocol, PM Modi transformed a formal national ceremony into a warm encounter with the country’s young generation.

The simple act of kindness resonated far beyond the Red Fort.
