Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday invoked the legacy of India’s freedom fighters and nation-builders, including Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru, BR Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Bhagat Singh, and urged citizens to draw inspiration from their ideals while working towards a Viksit Bharat.
Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort during the 80th Independence Day celebrations, PM Modi recalled his earlier call for the ‘Panch Pran’ or Five Pledges. He said these commitments had strengthened India’s confidence and determination to achieve its national goals.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to remove any mindset of servitude and uphold national pride while pursuing development.
PM Modi said India’s journey towards progress should remain inspired by those who contributed to the freedom struggle and nation-building. He invoked the ideals of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Birsa Munda and Jyotiba Phule.
The Prime Minister urged citizens to place national interest above personal interests and make duty a central part of their identity.
Calling for collective efforts to build Viksit Bharat, PM Modi said India had the time, opportunity and determination needed to turn its aspirations into achievements. He urged citizens to transform their dreams into firm resolves and strengthen their capabilities to fulfil them.
The Prime Minister called on people to make every step a step towards development, work together and remain focused on the national goal. He emphasised unity, determination and collective participation as key to transforming India’s aspirations into reality.
PM Modi’s message formed part of the broader vision of building a developed India by 2047, when the country completes 100 years of Independence.
