Ayodhya : The Uttar Pradesh Child Rights Protection Commission nabbed five clerics on anti-human trafficking charges who were transporting 95 minors from various districts of Bihar to Saharanpur by bus. Acting on a tip, the Commission’s anti-trafficking squad halted the bus transporting the youngsters in Ayodhya on Friday evening. Later, all of the children aged nine to twelve were moved to Lucknow and housed in boarding homes.
The cops are busily interviewing the clerics and gathering information about the entire operation. According to commission sources here on Saturday, the children of Purnia in Bihar were successfully evacuated based on information from the Mission Mukti Foundation New Delhi.
A Child Welfare Committee member stated that they had received evidence that several children were being unlawfully transported from Araria and Purnia in Bihar to Deoband in Saharanpur. The Commission, with the aid of police, halted the bus on the highway near Badi Devkali in Ayodhya. The bus had 95 youngsters and five clergy.
According to accounts, the youngsters had no idea where they were being brought. The clerics’ information also turned out to be erroneous. According to Child Welfare Committee members, the clergy do not even have the children’s parents’ names or consent letters. Many youngsters are also orphaned. Clerics continued to deceive the cops. According to authorities, further investigation is underway.
