2 Notorious Agents Arrested For Duping Sri Lankan Nationals On Pretext Of Sending Them To Foreign Shores

With the arrest of 2 agents, the team of PS IGI Airport has busted an immigration racket and succeeded in solving a case vide FIR No. 334/23 dated 28.05.2023 Ufs 420/120B/34 IPC. PS IGI Airport, Delhi. Further, in continuation of its stringent drive against the agents involved in immigration frauds, the team of IGI Airport has been successful in arresting 9 more agents in 8 different cases in May. Moreover, a special drive to nab the POs/PPs who were hiding deliberately was launched under the leadership of both SHOs/IGIA and the supervision of ACP/IGIA which resulted in 21 POs/PPs being arrested/verified in 16 cases as well as 23 cases have been registered against Touts, in which 26 Touts were arrested and 24 Vehicles were seized in the month of May 2023.

INCIDENT

The present FIR was registered at P.S IGI Airport on the complaint of Insp Satish Kumar Yadav. In his complaint, he stated that while he was on patrolling duty near the Mahipalpur picket, he saw 10 persons suspiciously standing at airport. They were asked about their presence, but they could not give any suitable reply. On being asked to prove their identity, they could not produce any document, after which they were brought to the police station for verification and their identity was established. All of them were found to be of Sri Lankan nationality. One of them namely Mahenthiraja was a sub-agent from Chennai who was guiding them on the directions of Agent Selvakulendran. They all were promised to be sent to Canada by cheating Indian Immigration.

TEAM AND INVESTIGATION CONDUCTED:-

In view of large-scale scams running worldwide, duping people on the pretext of sending them to foreign countries and bursting the whole nexus, a team consisting of 10/Insp Satish Kumar Yadav and HC Dinesh No. 289 /A was constituted under the leadership of Inspr. Yashpal Singh SHO/ IGI Airport and supervision of Sh. Virender Mor, ACP/IGI Airport with the specific task to locate the movement of alleged travel agents. The team minutely scrutinized the modus operandi of the alleged agent. After careful analysis of the call records of arrested persons and through electronic surveillance, the team intercepted the location of the alleged agent Selvakulendran in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. The team was immediately deployed for Trichy and agent Selvakulendran was arrested. He was thoroughly interrogated and on sustained interrogation, agent Selvakulendran disclosed that he charged Rs.2 lakhs each from all of passengers to facilitate them in sending to Canada via IGI Airport, New Delhi. These Sri Lankan people were sent to him by his acquaintance in Sri Lanka namely Vijay.

RECOVERY

  • 2 Mobile Phones of the accused sub-agent namely Mahenthiraja himself and two Canadian
  • Visa stickers in the name of two of the passengers were recovered from him
  • Two Indian Passports and Two Sri Lankan passports were recovered from agent Selvakulendran.

DETAILS OF ACCUSED ARRESTED

1) Mahenthiraraja S/o Sh Ganeshmoorthi R/o Village Thiruvil Murugan Kovil Street, PS Valvettiturai, Jaffna, Sri Lanka, Age 63 Years

2) Selvakulendran S/o Sh. Umamahesan N r/o 22, Kamaraj Street, Iyappa Nagar, KK Nagar,Trichy, Tamil Nadu, Age 56 years

Both the above agents are involved in facilitating the Sri Lankan nationals to illegally go to Canada via India. They are operating from Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka and facilitating people in settling down in foreign countries by unfair means.

Further, the IGI Airport unit is committed to its pledge to take stringent action against agents involved in immigration fraud and to protect people from being duped by fake immigration agencies. Apart from the above-mentioned agents, 9 more agents in 8 different cases in the last one month of May have been arrested.
