11 Years Since Modi Took Office: BJP Celebrates Landmark

While the 2014 Lok Sabha election is widely regarded as a turning point in India’s democratic landscape, the dates 16 May and 20 May 2014 hold particular historical significance.

On 16 May 2014, the results of the general elections confirmed a decisive mandate for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), ending a decade of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule.

Just four days later, on 20 May, Narendra Modi officially assumed office as India’s Prime Minister, marking a red-letter day not only for him personally but also for the BJP, which had returned to power after a ten-year gap.

G Kishan Reddy Reflects On Historic Day

To commemorate the occasion, Union Minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy shared a tribute on social media platform X.

He posted a photograph of the formal invitation extended by the then President of India to Narendra Modi for his swearing-in ceremony.

“On this day, 11 years ago, Narendra Modi assumed office as Prime Minister of India,” Reddy wrote, recalling the historic transition. He described the three consecutive terms under Modi’s leadership as “11 years of Jan Seva, Susashan, and Bharat Uday” — service to the people, good governance, and the rise of India.

Cultural Revival And Global Recognition

Reddy further credited Modi’s leadership with bringing about a cultural and civilisational renaissance in the country.

“From reviving ancient temples and traditions to setting new benchmarks in good governance, he has led India’s emergence as a Vishwaguru (global teacher),” he stated.

He praised the Prime Minister’s blend of firm, compassionate, and visionary leadership, which he believes is “rejuvenating Bharat’s glory on the world stage.”

BJP’s Unprecedented Third Term

Looking at the present, the BJP’s continued hold on power under Modi’s leadership has broken new ground.

With the party returning to power for a third straight term in the 18th Lok Sabha, it has achieved a feat unmatched in India’s recent political history.

Apart from India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, no other leader has led an incumbent government to three consecutive victories with a clear majority.

This has firmly established Modi’s place as a transformative figure in contemporary Indian politics.

A Continuing Legacy

As the nation marks 11 years since Modi’s first swearing-in, party leaders and supporters continue to frame his tenure as a period of national resurgence.

G Kishan Reddy further echoed that sentiment, declaring himself a ‘proud member of this transformative journey’ and describing Modi as a ‘constant source of inspiration for the nation and the world’.
