The fabricated clip promises returns of ₹85,000 per day on an initial deposit of ₹22,000, presenting unrealistic gains to lure unsuspecting users.
The video further attempts to enhance credibility by falsely attributing guarantees to PM Narendra Modi, along with institutions such as the Securities and Exchange Board of India and the Reserve Bank of India.
Authorities have clarified that these claims are entirely baseless and part of a coordinated digital scam. This tactic reflects a growing pattern across India. Fraudsters increasingly deploy deepfake technology to impersonate prominent figures.
Similar manipulated videos featuring Narayan Murthy and other public personalities have circulated since early 2025.
In one instance, a Hyderabad-based doctor reportedly lost ₹20 lakh in June 2025 after falling victim to such deception.
User responses indicate that the misleading content has circulated for several months, particularly on platforms like YouTube.
The rapid spread highlights gaps in digital vigilance and content moderation.
The fact-check unit urged citizens to verify suspicious claims through official channels and report misleading material promptly.
The post gained significant traction, crossing 15,000 views within hours, thereby amplifying awareness.
The episode underscores the urgent need for digital literacy and proactive safeguards against evolving online fraud mechanisms.
