PIB Fact Check Flags AI Deepfake Of S Jaishankar Promoting Fake Investment Scheme

The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit has alerted citizens about an AI-generated deepfake video falsely showing External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar endorsing a fraudulent investment platform.

The fabricated clip promises earnings of Rs 80,000 a day, or more than Rs 25 lakh a month, from an initial investment of Rs 22,000.

The 33-second video uses manipulated footage of Jaishankar speaking. It adds promotional text and banners dated August 17, 2026.

The edits create a false impression of official government support for the scheme.

PIB Fact Check has confirmed that neither Jaishankar nor the government has endorsed such an investment opportunity.

The agency urged citizens to remain vigilant against deceptive online promotions. It warned people against trusting investment claims that use manipulated videos of public officials to appear legitimate.

The deepfake exploits the Minister’s image and digitally altered footage to lend credibility to the fraudulent promotion.

Such fabricated content can mislead viewers and encourage them to invest money in an unauthorised scheme.

PIB Fact Check advised citizens to verify investment-related claims through official government channels before taking any financial decision.

The agency provided channels through which people can report similar misinformation and fraudulent content.

The warning highlights the growing use of artificial intelligence to manipulate videos and falsely associate public figures with financial schemes.

The case underlines the need for users to check the authenticity of promotional material before sharing or acting on it.

Citizens should exercise caution when encountering investment advertisements featuring government officials, particularly when they promise unusually high returns from a small initial payment.
