The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit has issued a clarification regarding a viral advertisement linked to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The advertisement falsely claimed that selected interns would receive a monthly stipend of ₹30,000 under the DRDO Paid Internship Programme 2026.
According to PIB Fact Check, the circulating claim is misleading and does not accurately represent the official stipend structure announced by DRDO.

Authorities urged people to verify such claims carefully before sharing them online or applying through unauthorised sources.
PIB clarified that the DRDO internship programme offers a total stipend of ₹30,000 for the full six-month duration, not a monthly payment of the same amount.
Under the official structure, interns receive ₹15,000 after completing the first three months of training, calculated at ₹5,000 per month. DRDO pays the remaining ₹15,000 after interns complete the full six-month internship period.
PIB Fact Check shared the clarification on its official social media channels. The move aimed to stop the spread of misinformation surrounding the internship programme.
Officials advised interested candidates to refer only to the original internship notification released by DRDO. They said applicants should rely on official information regarding eligibility, payment terms and application procedures.
The official advertisement for the DRDO Paid Internship Programme 2026 is available on the organisation’s website.
PIB also encouraged individuals to avoid relying on edited screenshots or unofficial forwards circulating across social media platforms.
PIB Fact Check further appealed to the public to remain cautious about suspicious online content. It said users should carefully verify posts related to government schemes, recruitment drives and internship opportunities.
Citizens were also advised to report misleading posts and doubtful advertisements directly to the PIB Fact Check team for verification. The agency continues to monitor false claims circulating online to prevent misinformation and protect applicants from potential fraud.
The clarification comes as concerns grow over fake recruitment notices and manipulated advertisements. These misleading posts have been targeting students and job seekers across digital platforms.
